The Grounds is a unique market style hub located in Alexandria, Sydney. It boasts two dining outlets, food stalls, a resident florist, a unique canteen courtyard and friendly farm animals. The minute you enter The Grounds you are surrounded by lush greenery and greeted by their hands on staff. Cruz and I go to the Grounds frequently as we live close by. It is a great environment for kids, there is so much to see and explore.
Their signature breakfasts and lunches are created by passionate chefs and resident bakers, baking all their bread and stunning pastries on site. They even roast their own blend of coffee which adds to their finesse.
The courtyard garden offers a play area for kids to run around and explore. Surrounded by canteen style food outlets you can choose from the burger and salad bar or order a house made soda or a wood fire pizza. The courtyard is also home to resident pig Kevin Bacon and his farm friends; including goats, a rooster, ducks and chickens.
The Potting Shed is a gorgeous licensed restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner whilst sipping on creative cocktails. Through winter evenings they have an open fire out the front where children and adults alike can roast fluffy marshmallows. Speaking of fluffy you might catch a glimpse of the chatty macaw, appropriately named 'Fluffy', she loves to say hello.
The Grounds resident florist, Florals by Silva creates the most beautiful fresh floral arrangements. Whenever I visit I enjoy strolling through the florist admiring the creative displays and lusting after their range of unique gifts and home wares.
When visiting on Saturday or Sunday you're in for a treat, The Grounds markets offer a selection of local producers, homewares, homemade good. I love the children's things that are on offer especially Welly's Wonders gorgeous illustrated children's books. There are over 80 different stalls at the Grounds markets that alternate weekly.
